Cities are the epicenters of economic growth in Latin America and the Caribbean. Traditionally this growth has been linked to rampant increases in energy and water demand, and an expanding carbon footprint. But cities don´t have to be part of the climate change problem. In fact, if we rethink the assumption that increasing consumption is a requirement for growth, cities can provide real-world settings for innovative policies and technologies. Cities can be part of the solution. Political leaders, civil society and the private sector are key stakeholders, leading the change and helping to ensure a more sustainable energy future for all.
