SELECTION PROCESS

25 finalists will be selected for 2011 MIF Photo Contest-In Focus: Shifting Gender Perspectives. Some of these finalists will showcase their work at the 2011 Foromic venue in San Jose, Costa Rica, and to a wider audience through local and international media, printed materials, and online platforms.

The winners will be awarded with prizes of up to US$ 3,000. The winning images will be part of the permanent photo gallery that will be showcased in the IDB website, in a virtual exhibit at the IDB Fall 2011, and in MIF printed material always accompanied by appropriate attribution to the photographer.

Entries will be judged on originality, effectiveness in questioning gender norms, technical excellence, composition, overall impact, and artistic merit. The story behind the photo, submitted as a paragraph or brief essay, may influence the judges’ decisions. Decisions made by the judges are final.
