III Annual Conference of the Trade, Integration and Growth Network (TIGN)

Date: 30 Sep 2011 to 01 Oct 2011

Time: 8:45 AM

Location: Montevideo, Uruguay

The third annual conference of the LACEA Trade, Integration and Growth Network (TIGN) will be held in Montevideo, Uruguay, September 30th – October 1st, 2011. This conference is sponsored by LACEA, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and the Andean Development Corporation (CAF), and will be hosted by the Universidad de la República, Uruguay.

The TIGN conference is a unique event that brings together top researchers and policymakers to discuss recent theoretical and empirical advances in trade and integration and growth broadly defined. The goal of these meetings is to use the findings of research in order to gain a better understanding of the problems, opportunities and policy challenges faced by Latin American and Caribbean countries in the process of integration and also to encourage further research on the subject.

This year selection of contributed papers and discussants will be made by a Program Committee whose members are Nathan Nunn (Harvard University), Diego Restuccia (University of Toronto), Pablo Sanguinetti (CAF and Universidad Torcuato Di Tella), Cristina Terra (Université de Cergy-Pontoise and Fundação Getulio Vargas), Marcel Vaillant (Universidad de la República), and Christian Volpe Martincus (IDB).

Theoretical and empirical (including policy-oriented) papers dealing with the economics and politics of trade and economic integration (including regional trade agreements, financial integration, physical infrastructure integration, etc.) as well as those linking trade and regional initiatives with growth and productivity are welcome.

A special emphasis will be placed on attracting young scholars, particularly those based in Latin America and the Caribbean.
