Location: Georgetown, Guyana

The Inter-American Development Bank will hold the Second Annual Dialogue with the Civil Society Consultative Groups (ConSocs) of the Caribbean. Caribbean ConSOC members from the Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Haiti, Guyana, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, and Suriname Caribbean countries will participate in this event.

The Caribbean ConSOCs Dialogue seeks to provide an opportunity for the IDB and Caribbean ConSocs to discuss developmental challenges, share experiences, and explore options for further collaboration in the Bank–civil society relationship in the Caribbean. Moreover, the meeting will give the Caribbean ConSocs the opportunity to network and explore potential synergies through group discussion, field visits, and presentations.

The meeting will include the following components:

  1. Dialogue about key developmental challenges for the IDB, Civil Society, and Governments in Caribbean countries.
  2. Exploration of how ConSocs can collaborate regionally to promote greater cross-border partnerships and synergies.
  3. Working sessions to define the specific role and contributions of the Caribbean ConSocs vis-à-vis the XII IDB-Civil Society Meeting that will take place in el Salvador in October 2012.
  4. Field visits to IDB-sponsored projects directly relating to the thematic areas of interest to ConSoc members.
