Japan-LAC Business Forum

Date: 07 Nov 2013 to 08 Nov 2013

Time: 9:00 AM

Location: Tokyo, Japan

Japan is an important strategic partner for Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). In addition to the sizable Japanese population, which represents a powerful market, LAC hosts operations of more than 200 Japanese companies that reinforce LAC’s strategic importance as a trade and investment gateway for Asia.

Japan´s Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) to LAC has more than doubled, growing a 110% (5.5 billion to 11 billion), from 2010 to 2011. Notwithstanding, there is ample room to increase the commercial and investment ties between Japan and LAC countries. To this end, and hoping to take full advantage of the opportunities the relationship has to offer, the Bank will host (November 7 – 8, 2013) in Tokyo the Japan – LAC Business Forum.

The activities of the first day (November 7, 2013) are exclusively designed for Trade Promotion Organizations (TPOs) and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) from LAC whose representatives will attend on an invitation basis.

On the second day (November 8, 2013) of the event, there will be an open forum that will feature the presence of Mr. Luis Alberto Moreno, President of the IDB, as well as other important thinkers and distinguished representatives of Japan’s and LAC’s public and private sectors.
