IDB and University of The Bahamas host event to discuss early childhood development, social challenges in the Caribbean
The one-day seminar will feature presentations on two of IDB’s flagship publications on social and economic development in the Caribbean and Latin America. Regional public ministries and private institutions have been invited to provide policy perspectives on recent regional and local industry and regulatory developments in sectors related to education, social services, labour and health.
Dr. Rodney Smith, President of the University of The Bahamas and Mrs. Florencia Attademo-Hirt, the IDB’s Country Representative for The Bahamas, will offer welcoming remarks. Mr. Hector Salazar, General Manager of the IDB Group’s Social Sector Department,will give some background and an overview of the value of the two publications to the Caribbean region. The Hon. Jerome Fitzgerald, Minister of Education, Science & Technology and The Hon. Melanie Griffin have also been invited to speak at the Caribbean regional launch of these two IDB publications.
