The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), together with the Government of Colombia, is organizing the most important annual event on citizen security and justice in Latin America and the Caribbean, the “Citizen Security Week” that will take place in Colombia from November 27th to December 1st, 2017.

The objective of the Citizen Security Week is to offer security policymakers, program managers, experts, academics, and civil society interested in violence prevention and control issues in this region, a platform for dialogue and exchange of experiences and best practices. The event includes two main activities. The Regional Policy Dialogue is a closed, high-level meeting among the region's Ministers of Security/Interior, which discusses the developments and challenges faced in the implementation of citizen security and justice policies (November 27 and 28, in Bogotá). And the Coexistence and Citizen Security Clinic, which this year will focus on legitimacy and trust, is a technical event to discuss cutting-edge knowledge in the sector, based on lessons learned from Latin America and the Caribbean, and around the world. It will also include a series of field visits to innovative solutions in Medellin (November 30 and December 1, in Medellin).

On this occasion, the Citizen Security Week will address the "Challenges of the institutionalization responsible for managing the coexistence of citizen security in the construction of legitimacy and trust with citizens."
