VIII HEMISPHERIC MEETING OF THE TRADE AND INTEGRATION NETWORK

Place: Inter-American Development Bank
Enrique V. Iglesias Conference Center  - Room CR2
1330 New York Avenue N.W., Washington D.C. 20577

The United States is a key trade partner for Latin American and Caribbean countries. In January of this year the new administration of President Obama took office, raising expectations with regard to the new objectives of the U.S. trade policy. The meeting of the Trade and Integration Network of the Regional Policy Dialogue will provide an opportunity to discuss the trade policy of the new administration and its implications for the countries of the region.

The Trade and Integration Network of the Regional Policy Dialogue is organized by the Office of the Vice-Presidency for Sectors and Knowledge and the Integration and Trade Sector of the Inter-American Development Bank, in close coordination with the Network members from the borrowing countries.

The first day of the meeting will focus on the main elements of the trade policy of the new U.S. administration, and will include an overview of the status of trade preferences, as well as of the role of labor, environment and climate change in U.S. trade policy. On the second day, the Network members will have working meetings with the Chairman and members of the Trade Subcommittee of the Ways and Means Committee of the United States House of Representatives and with the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR).

Attendance at the meeting is by invitation only.
