Latin-American and the Caribbean
Buyers-Sellers Meeting

The Integration and Trade Sector (INT) of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), together with its Country Department for Central America, Mexico, Panama and the Dominican Republic, through its Mesoamerica Project and co-sponsored by CAF and the Italian Cooperation for Development, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, organized “LAC Flavors 2010” a Buyer-Seller Meeting that held in Cartagena, Colombia on June 15th and 16th, 2010.

This initiative was a sequel to “LAC Flavors 2009” held in Cancun, Mexico on October 21st and 22nd, 2009 which was a huge success - 9 million dollars in business deals, 17 million in future transactions and 1.7 million in business partnerships among suppliers.

“LAC Flavors 2010” helped form business relationships between Latin American and Caribbean exporters and North American and Canadian importers of food products. Exporters and Importers together were able to network, discuss their needs and capabilities, and do business on one-on-one basis.

In 2010, we had an outstanding group of about 100 exporters from Mesoamerica offering natural and organic products, fresh and processed fruits and vegetables, seafood, dairy products, fair trade products, and a variety of specialty foods. During two days, more than 1000 business meetings were held and $4.5 million dollars in business deals were closed. This number is expected to increase as a result of the event within the next months. Trade promotion organizations from the region were present as well as Haitian companies offering their products as our special guests.
