Maria Clemencia Rodriguez de Santos,
First Lady of Colombia.
Deputy Minister of Planning of Chile
Mauricio León Guzman, Deputy Minister of Social Development in Ecuador.
IDB President Luis Alberto Moreno and Sri Mulyani Indrawti, Managing Director of the World Bank will deliver the opening remarks.
Ensuring healthy childhood development is an investment in a country's future workforce and capacity to thrive economically and as a society. Colombia, like other countries in Latin America, has identified ECD as a public policy priority. Through De Cero a Siempre, the current administration is leading an effort towards the provision of high-quality, integrated services for children, and the coordination of public and private efforts in the areas of education, health, social protection and nutrition.
The purpose of this event is to introduce the De Cero a Siempre strategy, and to explain its purpose, challenges, priorities and needs for support. To enhance the discussion, this presentation will be followed by a discussion with senior government officials from Chile and Ecuador about the ECD strategies being implemented in those countries which, like Colombia, are taking the lead in the design and implementation of integrated ECD policies and programs in Latin American and the Caribbean.
