Regional Seminar on Trade and Development for Caribbean Countries

The World Trade Organization Secretariat (WTO), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), through the Institute for the Integration of Latin America and the Caribbean (INTAL) and the Integration and Trade Sector (INT), and the Caricom Secretariat, are organizing a Regional Seminar on Trade and Development for Caribbean Countries. The workshop will be held in Port of Spain, Trinidad, November 21-23, 2011.

 The objective of this training activity is to facilitate the more effective participation of developing countries in the work of the World Trade Organization, allow participants to obtain a better understanding of the development dimension of the Doha Work Program, as well as the Aid for Trade Initiative. This course is addressed to junior to mid-level foreign affairs, trade, finance and development officials. It will include presentations from various Caribbean officials. Each Caribbean Ministry related to the topic will nominate up to four officials with direct responsibilities in the above-mentioned area and the organizers will select two officials per country. IDB/INTAL will finance the participation of all officials. The Workshop is closed to the general public.
