Unleashing IdEA highlights diaspora and transnational entrepreneurship through a celebratory, knowledge sharing, and partnership forming event at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in Washington, D.C. The U.S. Department of State, IDB, Univision, and Kauffman Foundation are partnering to host this event, which will be broadcast on Univision and live streamed globally.
To launch GEW 2011, International diaspora Engagement Alliance (IdEA) partners will highlight existing partnerships designed to engage and support diaspora entrepreneurs and investors.
Moving forward, IdEA will leverage these models to develop additional diaspora-centered partnerships that promote trade and investment entrepreneurship, and innovation in countries of origin.
Diaspora entrepreneurs are making significant contributions to their country of origin or ancestry through start-ups and growth enterprises that are offering new products and services, thereby fostering economic growth and innovation in the local markets.
The International Diaspora Engagement Alliance (IdEA) is an innovative partnership platform, launched by Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton at the first-ever Global Diaspora Forum, to engage diaspora communities, the private sector, and public institutions in a collaborative process.
