HEMISPHERIC MEETING OF THE SOCIAL PROTECTION AND HEALTH NETWORK
Building Social Services Networks

The multiple structural and contingent factors that hamper or jeopardize the access of many families to a minimum quality of living standard are usually tackled from the specialized sphere of each sector, resulting in a multiplicity of policies and social programs that are generally developed as isolated initiatives.

In the understanding that promoting such minimum standard requires a coordinated supply of interventions, more and more countries in the Region have developed an interest in designing “models" that manage these policies and programs as a services network by means of conceptual frameworks and regulatory and operational arrangements that facilitate the creation links between providers while improving the distribution of services and benefits among the populations served.

In this context, given the incipient construction of services networks and the highly complex nature of the issues required to deal with it, the Regional Policy Dialogue, through the Social Protection and Health Network, becomes the first venue to host a reflective process on the construction of social services networks. Thus, through this space we expect to foster the analysis of the advantages and challenges facing the service integration models designed in our region, which, either in isolation or in combination with other elements, bring together most of the experiences currently under way in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC).
