Workshop: Financial Instruments to Promote Energy Efficiency – The experience from local financial institutions in Latin America and the Caribbean

It is our pleasure to announce an interactive workshop "Financial Instruments to Promote Energy Efficiency – The experience from local financial institutions in Latin America and the Caribbean", to be held on October 18 & 19, 2012, in Sala Petriciolli, NAFIN,  Insurgentes Sur No. 1971, Torre IV Plaza Inn, Col. Guadalupe Inn, C.P. 01020, México City.

The workshop is jointly organized by:

 • KfW Bankengruppe

• Nacional Financiera of México (NAFIN)

• Inter-American Development Bank (IDB)

National Development Banks in Latin America today share the general national goal of sustainable development in the environment, social and economic dimensions. In this context, both development and commercial banks have a key role to develop, promote and structure innovative financing schemes and green lines that are in line with the national and regional sustainable development goals.

The workshop aims to create a dialogue among representatives of public and private financial institutions of Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), national and international experts, that will lead to the creation of innovative proposals to take action and cooperation on financial instruments for the promotion of energy efficiency in the region, as well as to share experiences and lessons learned by local financial institutions in LAC.

** All information, presentations and webinar event will be available in the Community of Practice for Financial Institutions on the Carbon Finance Platform, an online tool for knowledge about carbon markets and financing of climate change mitigation, in Spanish, for all Latin America and the Caribbean.

The Community of Practice (CoP) for Financial Institutions is a virtual space that allows dynamic access to information on issues of climate change mitigation that are relevant to this sector. The CoP allows the user to interact with environmental finance professionals and expand thier network of contacts in the region; to exchange experiences on financing opportunities to reduce GHG emissions; and to participate in discussion forums and collaborate in generating new investment strategies in environmental projects.
