V Hemispheric Meeting -" Inclusion, Stability and Transparency in the financial markets: Regional Priorities of Public and Private Policy "

The Inter-American Development Bank, through the Vice presidency for Sectors (VPS),  has been promoting the "Regional Policy Dialogue (RPD)" initiative for the last several years.  In this context, the "Financial Institutions Regulation Network," which is coordinated by the Division of Capital Market and Financial Institutions (CMF), in collaboration with the Latin American Federation of Banks, FELABAN and the Association of Supervisors of Banks of the Americas, ASBA, has created a space for technical dialogue to reflect on (i) The financial sector in Latin America, (ii) the causes and effects of the crisis that the sector has faced in several countries and worldwide, (iii) the progress in regulatory and supervisory measures and (iv) strategies to minimize the impact of the crisis in the sector’s performance. The Network has also served to identify agreements and to reach positions to allow the strengthening of  the sector in areas such as: capital requirements in the context of Basel II and III, Corporate Governance, Transparency, Financial Consumer Protection and Financial Inclusion.

 

Within this initiative, and in order to strengthen and continue to create opportunities for dialogue between the  public and private financial sector actors, The Financial Institutions Regulation Network will the holding its  V Hemispheric Meeting -" Inclusion, Stability and Transparency in the financial markets: Regional Priorities of  Public and Private Policy " on September 18th and 19th 2013 at IDB Headquarters in Washington D.C.
