Third Meeting of the Regional Policy Dialogue's Transport Network

Date: 24 Oct 2013 to 25 Oct 2013

Time: 8:30 AM

Location: Miami, United States

As a way to provide a mechanism to promote the knowledge sharing between high-level government’s officials from the region and experts in key development areas, the Bank has created the Transport Network. The Transport Network is part of the Regional Policy Dialogue and is composed of the ministers and vice ministers from the 26 countries of the region that work in terms of Transport.

The Network seeks to provide a mechanism for dialogue among key decision-making authorities, through the horizontal exchange of information, knowledge, experiences and lessons learned as well as providing opportunities for collaboration to address common challenges faced by countries of the region in terms of transport infrastructure.

In 2013, the topic of the Network will focus on Vehicle Regulation with special emphasis on Road Safety, Clean fFels and Vehicles and Local Pollutant and Greenhouse Gas Emission (GHG) control.

The event aims to bring together ministerial-level officials to foster regional dialogue and identify transport policies on road safety, clean fuels and vehicles and emissions standards needed to reduce the elevated number of road accidents and high concentration of air pollutants that cause respiratory illnesses as well as increasing GHG emissions that contribute to climate change in the region. The event will have the participation of international speakers as well as IDB specialists who actively work toward these fields.
