Meeting of the Trade and Integration Network and of the Inter-American Network of International Trade Single Windows

Date: 05 Dec 2013 to 06 Dec 2013

Time: 8:30 AM

Location: Santiago, Chile

The Regional Policy Dialogue is an IDB initiative that seeks to create a space for the exchange of experiences and to reflect upon important policy issues and the identification of cooperation opportunities between countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.

The Inter-American Network of Single Windows (Red VUCE) is an initiative of the region’s countries that seeks to foster the use of electronic windows as a trade facilitation and control tool, and to optimize and reduce the time and costs associated with export, import, and transit transactions according to international standards, recommendations, and good practices. Red VUCE seeks to boost its work by taking advantage of synergies with regional initiatives, sub regional integration processes, and initiatives of government or international agencies and bodies.

The December 5-6 hemispheric meeting of the Trade and Integration Network of the Regional Policy Dialogue will coincide with the fourth meeting of Red VUCE, which will follow up on the agreements reached in its previous meeting in El Salvador this past May.

The meeting’s goal is to promote dialogue among countries, as well as knowledge transfer of work undertaken to date on the implementation of national single window projects and steps needed to ensure their interoperability in the future. In particular, the dialogue will examine the results of the work of Red VUCE’s three Working Groups (regulatory, data harmonization, and technological), thereby seeking to agree upon action plans and review their implementation. Attendance at the meeting is by invitation only.
