Second Regional Policy Dialogue on Citizen Security

The Government of Mexico, through the Ministry of Interior, and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) carried out the Second Regional Dialogue on Citizen Security Policy, in Mexico City, on May 8 and 9, 2014. The Dialogue and the Training Clinic on Citizen Security that took take place on May 6 and 7, constituted the 2014 Social Prevention of Violence and Crime Week.

The Dialogue focused on governance of the social prevention of violence, considering the following topics: 1) strategic design of policies and interagency coordination; 2) operational challenges for program implementation, and 3) citizen participation and public-private partnerships. In addition, in the context of the event, Mexico’s National Program for the Social Prevention of Violence and Crime, which will guide public policy actions over the next few years, was presented.

Ministers and Vice-ministers (or high-level public officials of equivalent status) responsible for the orientation of Citizen Security public policies participated in the Dialogue. Scholars and renowned experts as well as IDB specialists will also took part in the Dialogue.
