Regional Workshop on Trade in Services for Caribbean Countries

Date: 02 Dec 2014 to 04 Dec 2014

Time: 12:00 PM

Location: Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago

In light of the challenges facing Caribbean countries for their effective participation in multilateral and regional trade negotiations, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), through its Institute for the Integration of Latin America and the Caribbean (INTAL) and Integration and Trade Sector (INT), the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the CARICOM Secretariat, are jointly organizing a “Regional Workshop on the GATS and Trade in Services for the Caribbean”. This activity will be held in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, from December 2nd to 4th, 2014.

The objective of this training activity is to enhance and strengthen participants’ understanding of the GATS, including the schedules of commitments in trade in services, to improve the understanding of how to negotiate in a service context, particularly in relation with the capacity to understand and work with schedules of commitments in services, and to improve the understanding of how RTAs in services relate to the GATS.

The Workshop will be in charge of Mr. Dale Honeck and Mr. Peter Morrison from the WTO Trade in Services Division and Mr. Mario Alberto Umaña, from the IDB Integration and Trade Sector.

The activity is designed for capital-based government officials with experience with services trade and will be closed for the general audience.
