Regional Trade and Integration Policy Dialogue: Meeting of the Inter-American Network of Trade Single Windows

The May 21-22n meeting is the seventh Red VUCE meeting. Jointly organized by the Trade and Integration Sector of the IDB and the Ministry of Development, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Brazil, with the support of the Brazilian National Confederation of Industry, the objective of the meeting is to follow up on discussions held at the last meeting that took place in December 2014 in Cusco, Peru, particularly, to advance work on indicators for measuring the impact of single windows and deepening discussions on Port Community Systems and their link to single windows. The VII meeting of the REDVUCE will also seek to make progress in the interoperability of regional single windows in the near future, specifically regarding the pilot project for the Phytosanitary Certificate, and to extend the dialogue on good practices for integrating private sector solutions into the design and implementation of single windows.

The Inter-American Network of Single Windows (Red VUCE) is an initiative of the region’s countries seeks to foster the use of electronic windows as a trade facilitation and control tool, and to optimize and reduce the time and costs associated with export, import, and transit transactions according to international standards, recommendations, and good practices. Red VUCE seeks to boost its work by taking advantage of synergies with regional initiatives, sub regional integration processes, and initiatives of government or international agencies and bodies.

This VII RED VUCE Meeting will be organized under the umbrella of the Trade and Integration Network of the IDB Regional Policy Dialogue, which is an initiative that seeks to create a space for the exchange of experiences and to reflect upon important policy issues and the identification of cooperation opportunities between high-level government officials responsible for trade and integration policy of countries of Latin America and the Caribbean. The network conducts annual meetings with the objective of providing a forum for discussion and knowledge sharing between the main policymakers of the region in key topics related to regional trade and integration.
