Inspiring ideas to narrow the inequality gap in the Americas

The Institute for the Integration of Latin America and the Caribbean (IDB-INTAL) -in the frame of our half-century celebration- with the support of the Integration and Trade Sector and the Social Sector, of the IDB, organizes jointly with the Columbia University, the Node i+i: Regional Integration + Social Inclusion, to be held on September 25 and 26, 2015, in New York City. The date of the event is timed to coincide with the General Assembly of the United Nations and the visit of Pope Francis, an occasion in which the topics of development, equity and Latin America will be on the spotlight.

The Node aims to foster a network between emerging leaders of Latin America, the Caribbean and the United States, in order to exchange ideas and cases of success, in an interactive clinic among a group of emerging leaders on social issues aiming at answering one main question: how to regionally integrate the Americas while strengthening social cohesion?

The challenge ahead is to regionally integrate the Americas and, at the same time, to strengthen its social cohesion. Our purpose is to devise a new way of analyzing old problems and understanding new ones, always keeping the focus on people and their particular context.

In this first face-to-face meeting, Node i+i gathers together emerging leaders and members of academia from Latin America, the Caribbean and the United States, mainly of Latin descent, who are involved in the implementation and assessment of social programs and have an inclination for innovation in the field of public policies promoting equality.

The event will be closed to the general audience.
