Award for Excellence in Microfinance
Best Microfinance Institution and Most Microfinance Outreach [Criteria]
Acknowledges institutions that constantly improve their delivery mechanisms and financial products to reach important numbers of microentrepreneurs and other low-income clients. The award recognizes institutions that have also adopted adequate transparency and consumer protection practices while maintaining efficient and profitable operations. This years award will be divided into two categories i) Best Microfinance Institution. Recognizes outstanding performance. Can be either regulated or non-regulated, and ii) Most Microfinance Outreach. Recognizes institutions that reach down market. There is NO APPLICATION PROCESS for these two awards, as all information will be generated directly from The MIX.
Award for Excellence in Enterprise Development Services within Value Chains [Criteria]
Recognizes the efforts to provide business solutions that improve the integration of microenterprises or small agricultural producers within their value chains. The institutions providing business solutions can either offer services with expertise in any one area of a business cycle, such as production, technology, marketing, training, or business management; or it can provide a more comprehensive solution to a given enterprise or groups of enterprises.
Award for Excellence in Local Entrepreneurship [Criteria] (information available only in Spanish)
The objective of this award wast to recognize the wealth of entrepreneurship in the microenterprise sector. The award was given to a local microentrepreneur in the host country of the XII Foromic, who has successfully developed his or her business through perseverance, dedication, and innovation, and thereby has contributed to his or her community through generation of employment and economic development.
